Mayen Estate, near Rothiemay in Banffshire is a private, family run estate, where we enjoy welcoming holiday guests to enjoy our beautiful surroundings, with opportunities for wild swimming, river salmon and trout fishing, stargazing, clay pigeon shooting, wildlife spotting and a chance to see the Northern Lights.

Enjoy spending time in our 2-acre private estate Walled Garden throughout your holiday.
Our stunning Walled Gardens are open exclusively to holiday guests and are a beautiful and peaceful place to relax with a book, picnic or easel during your holiday.
We have one full time gardener and two groundsmen who are dedicated to making our gardens and grounds beautiful, productive and a haven for insects and wildlife.
Opening times are Monday to Friday, 8.30am until 4.30pm. The walled gardens are closed to guests on Saturday and Sunday and from November to February.

Expect a traditional and delicious picnic carefully prepared with homemade goodies dropped off to your cottage or to one of our picnic spots, so it’s ready waiting for you!
If you would like the picnic to be served in The Summerhouse or TheBridge Lodge with tea and coffee, please also book the rental of The Summerhouse or The Bridge Lodge.
Catering is provided by The Willows Tearoom at Deskford Garden Galleries and requires advance notice. This experience is subject to availability and is available from Thursday to Sunday, for a minimum of 2 people, please advise of any dietary requirements, one of our hosting team will be in touch to arrange dates.

Experience epic wild salmon and sea trout river fishing on one of the finest beats of the River Deveron
One day salmon fishing for one rod, on the Mayen House and Stobiehaugh beats of the River Deveron. Our mid-river fishing is below the Bogie and Isla tributaries, stretching for a mile on both banks with 10 named pools. An impressive footbridge allows easy access to both sides of the river.
Use of the bridge lodge, with its kitchenette, wood-burning stove, BBQ and soft seating must be arranged in addition.
A dedicated expert ghillie and equipment can also be arranged for beginners, children and seasoned anglers alike.

Experience Clay Pigeon Shooting by The River Deveron
Brilliant fun for the family, or for competitive couples, we offer private Clay Pigeon Shooting experiences on Mayen Estate. Perfect for complete beginners or more experienced shots alike, we provide all of the equipment, 50 cartridges, expert tuition from our gamekeeper, and of course cake and refreshments!
This is a private experience, available for a minimum of two people.
Children must be over 12 and shooting will be at your own pace with a dedicated instructor.

Roe Deer Hunting Experience
As part of our sustainability and diversity action plan, we sensitively and strategically manage the Roe Deer population on the estate to ensure all of the other wildlife and plant life can thrive. Subject to seasonality and availability, we offer Roe Deer Hunting experiences in the Deveron Valley.
You will meet with our expert gamekeeper the day before the outing for some tuition and then in the very early morning or late evening, for the hunting. This experience is for one gun and a maximum of one companion, both of whom must be physically fit.
It is an immense responsibility to kill these majestic, intelligent animals and as such we request that guests carefully consider the opportunity of this experience. Please do enquire for more information or if you should have any questions at all.
Prices start from £250, but are dependent on the size of the animal and the gamekeepers time, as more than one outing may be required. All tuition, equipment and refreshments are provided. This experience must be booked in advance and is subject to seasonality and availability.
