Built in 1788, The Guardhouse is a beautiful historic guardshouse with a calm and relaxing atmosphere, adjacent to Mayen House, in the heart of the stunning Deveron Valley.
Steeped in history, the unique, listed building has been completely reimagined and transformed into an exclusive romantic hideaway. The Guardhouse is complete with beautiful antique furniture, a piano, woodburning stove, full kitchen, freestanding roll-top bath, an especially comfortable bed decked in luxury linen and a private garden with a full outdoor kitchen and hot tub.
Pick up the freshest ingredients from the local farm shop to cook a delicious meal, or let us pack you a picnic to enjoy at one of our spots with a view. Whatever the occasion this romantic Scottish retreat will allow you to escape from it all, to enjoy one another’s company in stunning surroundings.
Please note that The Guardhouse is a wing of Mayen House which is a private residence. The Guardhouse has its own entrance and plenty of parking. The private garden is a very short walk (100m) from The Guardhouse and is in a secluded corner of our private walled gardens . The Guardhouse is heated by a wood-burning stove, logs are provided. The Guardhouse is not pet friendly nor suitable for children nor infants.
Step out of The Guardhouse in the morning to discover the estate’s walled garden, and then stroll through the acres of woodland and meadows. Enjoy the river, by wild salmon fishing with a dedicated ghillie, or simply by taking a long walk along its banks, returning to the warmth of the wood-burning stove. Unwind and relax in the most comfortable surroundings, enjoying the pleasures of a wood fire, piano, and a good novel, or explore the 700 acres with an easel.
