From the main Aberdeen to Inverness road, the A96, turn off towards Portsoy immediately North of Huntly on the B9022. After a few miles the road picks up the River Deveron, which is also flowing North from Huntly. Going across the bridge over the River Isla, which flows from Keith and joins the Deveron, turn right, along the road signposted for Rothiemay, which will take you along the river to the village. On entering the village, turn left past the church and at the old blacksmith's turn right for Aberchirder, known locally as "Foggieloan" on the B9117.

After 2 or so miles you will go round a sharp left corner, before the powder pink Gate Lodge of Mayen, with its navy iron gates, signposted "Mayen House, Private".
Turn down the drive with the gate lodge and take the 2nd left to the back door of Mayen House, where you will be met by one of our hosts.
